Entry requirements for this course
To join the Speciss family and kick-start your career, you need to have passed 5 “O” levels, or be older than 23 years of age and have relevant experience in the Petrol Motor Maintenance field. Bring certified copies of your qualifications when you come to register at Speciss College!
What you will learn
This is what you’ll study in the Petrol Motor Maintenance Certificate course:
- Use and care of tools, workshop safety and basic first aid
- Internal combustion chamber engines: Crankshaft, camshafts, valves, 4 stroke cycle engine, 2 stroke cycle engine
- Ignition System: Batteries, low tension current circuit, distributor, condenser, coil, high tension circuit plugs
- Charging System: Moving coil instruments, alternator, generator, cut-out, voltage regulator, starter motor circuit, starter solenoids, windscreen wiper motor, horn circuit
- Transmission System: Clutch system, gear boxes, propeller shafts, drive shafts, final drives, differentials, wheel and tyre maintenance
- Additional Systems: Fuel system, cooling system, lubrication system, braking system, full vehicle service, suspension system, steering system
What exams will you write?
Exams are held monthly. You’ll register for the exams with the Speciss College Exams Officer. Information on the exam fees can be obtained from the Speciss College Exams Officer.
When and where are the classes and what are the fees?
Lessons
are offered at different times on different campuses, with some lessons
being held during the day, and others in the evening or at weekends.
Often the same course can be studied at a variety of different times, so
you can choose the one which is more convenient to you.
You’ll get your personal timetable when you register at Speciss College.
What about books and stationery?
You'll need to bring your own notebook and writing materials to your classes. For your convenience, we have a range of stationery items at the Speciss bookshops
