This Course is open to anyone who can read and write especially individuals who are creative and artistic

Assessment

The examinations are held monthly. You register for the examination with the Speciss College Examination Officer. Information about the exam fees payable can be obtained from the Speciss College Examinations Officer.

The syllabus

This course covers the theory and practical application of hair braiding and weaving.  Students will learn how to choose the appropriate weave styles, arrange the material used for braiding /weaving. Students will also perform weave and braid techniques. Students will understand how to solve special problems encountered in weaving and braiding.  There are sequences of braids that students will be taught, and must complete as a requirement to successfully complete this course. 


Learning Outcomes

Perform client consultation, with respect of hair braiding

Explain how to prepare the hair for braiding

Demonstrate the procedures for the invisible braid, rope braid, flat twist, silky locks and fishtail braid

Demonstrate the procedure for single braids, with and without extensions

Demonstrate the procedure for cornrow, with and without extension

Demonstrate the technique of two strand twisting with or without extensions

Perform the various techniques of weaving, the track, sewing, bonding methods, and the fusion method

Explain and demonstrate proper care and maintenance of hair while wearing weave

Demonstrate the types of braiding utilized in weaving

Identify tools associated with weaving
