What do people do in this job?
Every scale must record weight accurately, as a small deviation can make a big difference to the price of a product being weighed.

The components of a weighing instrument can include one or more of the following:- mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and software-controlled. It is important for scale fitters to have a thorough knowledge of these components.

Scale fitters work in an environment which can differ from dirty, to clean and hygienic.  They will be expected to travel on a local or national basis.

What kind of people are suitable for this career?
Scale fitters must be able to cope with daily problems and challenges. It is also very important that they get on well with people.
