What do people do in this job?
The recreation managers' job is to develop programmes for people and those with disabilities, children, the elderly, etc - at a recreation centre, in which they can take part during their leisure time.
It is their responsibility to keep communities informed about the different programmes, excursions and exhibitions.
They advise the administration office and counsellors on sport, recreation and parks and also give advice on how to obtain sponsors.
They advise recreation officers about the different programmes available and keep records of all activities and events.
They also provide material for brochures, weekly newsletters and news releases.
What kinds of people are suitable for this career?
Recreation managers should be acquainted with more than one of the country's official languages and have the ability to work with all kinds of people.
They must have some management abilities, such as organisation and delegation skills.
