What role do nutritionists play in relation to medicine?
Nutritionists contribute to medicine in many ways.
Most of the time doctors cannot advise patients in detail about what they should or should not eat, whereas a nutritionist has in-depth knowledge of what suits them.
For example obesity may be the cause of various illnesses in certain patients, and the doctor may only be able to tell them to reduce weight.
The nutritionist, on the other hand will help the patient to lose weight by making a diet plan and an exercise regime and also by checking if the patient has been following these.
What qualifications are needed?
Nutritionists should have a good foundation in chemistry and biology at “O” or “A” level.
