The technicians are responsible for taking EEG readings which provide a record of brain activity and is used for the following purposes:?
EEG technicians must set the patient's minds at ease and record details such as age, head injuries, diseases, and present symptoms.
The clinical EEG examination takes approximately 30 minutes and usually includes techniques to activate the brain, such as stimulating it with a bright flickering light or asking the patient to breathe deeply for three minutes.
The EEG record is then prepared for analysis and interpretation.
Technicians have to classify and file these reports, arrange appointments, order supplies and maintain the equipment and laboratory.
EEG technicians normally work regular hours, but when emergency situations arise, they may be expected to work overtime.
