?Before the parents leave the house the babysitter must be sure to take note of what they say about the youngster/s they are leaving in her/his care.

?He/she must note the parents' contact phone number, emergency service numbers, neighbours' numbers, details of available medical help etc.

?The parents should also be asked for details of any allergies or phobias that the baby/child may have.

?What kinds of people are suitable for this job?
?Obviously women, or married couples, who have children of their own, are best suited for it, or girls who have younger brothers or sisters.

?They will not be alarmed at having to feed, change nappies or wash their charges.

?The ease with which they do this will help to relax the baby.

?They will know, too, how to talk to and play with the youngster and keep him or her happy.

?The babysitter herself must be relaxed.
