Job overview
Architectural technology is more technical and broader based than architecture.
Architectural technologists may practise from home or work for large corporations, the government or a municipality.
Their work can be indoors or outdoors, or a mixture of both.
They can work on computers? (?computer aided drafting?) ?or on the drawing board or undertake numerous other tasks where their knowledge of drawing is essential, but where drawing is not necessarily involved.
What kinds of people are suitable for this career?
An aptitude for drawing, advanced computer skills and the ability to analyse and solve problems are necessary.
What qualifications are needed?
In-service training has to be completed in the practice of a qualified architect or architectural technologist.
