Entry requirements for this course

To join the City & Guilds family and kick-start your career, you need to have passed 5 “O” levels or be over 18 years of age and have had some experience in the telecommunications field.

Bring certified copies of your qualifications when you come to register at Speciss College!


 

What you will learn

This is what you’ll study in the City & Guilds Telecommunications Certificate course:

  • 001 - Fundamentals of Electronic Communication 1
  • 002 - Communication Systems and Digital Networks 1

Optional module*
  • Mathematics
*Students who complete the first two modules will be awarded a theory certificate. They will be awarded a technician’s certificate if in addition to completing the first two modules they also do the optional Telecommunications Systems Practice module.



What exams will you write?

Exams are held twice times per year. You’ll register for the exams with the Speciss College Exams Officer.

To be awarded your certificate you must pass both the theory and practical exams.

Please talk to the Exams Officer or the Director of Studies to find out when exam fees are due.



When and where are the classes and what are the fees?

Lessons are offered at different times on different campuses, with some lessons being held during the day, and others in the evening or at weekends.

Often the same course can be studied at a variety of different times, so you can choose the one which is more convenient to you.

You’ll get your personal timetable when you register at Speciss College.

 



What about books and stationery?

You'll need to bring your own notebook and writing materials to your classes. For your convenience, we have a range of stationery items at the Speciss bookshops.
