Who will issue your certificate?

Once you’ve completed your study with Speciss College and passed the City & Guilds exams, you’ll be awarded the City & Guilds Bookkeeping and Accounts Level 1 Certificate. That’s the first rung of the ladder of City & Guilds qualifications. You can go up to Level 3 in this qualification.

Entry requirements for this course

To join the City & Guilds family, and register for the City & Guilds Bookkeeping and Accounts Level 1 course, you must have 5 “O” level passes.

If you are over 18 years of age, but do not have 5 “O” level passes, you may be exempted from these entry requirements. Please talk to our Director of Studies: Business School.

Bring certified copies of your certificates with you when you come to Speciss College to register as a student!


 

What you will learn

You will study 4 modules, as shown below:

  • Processing documents involved in the accounting function
  • Double-entry bookkeeping
  • Preparing statements as a preliminary to financial control
  • Displaying information about the financial state of the business



What exams will you write?

Exams are held in at the end of each month; you can enter the exam when your tutor feels that you are ready to do so. You must register for your exams through the Exams Officer at Speciss College.

Please talk to the Exams Officer to find out when exam fees are due.



When and where are the classes and what are the fees?

Lessons are offered at different times on different campuses, with some lessons being held during the day, and others in the evening or at weekends.

Often the same course can be studied at a variety of different times, so you can choose the one which is more convenient to you.

You’ll get your personal timetable when you register at Speciss College.

 



What about books and stationery?

You'll need to bring your own notebook and writing materials to your classes. For your convenience, we have a range of stationery items at the Speciss bookshops.

The list of prescribed and recommended books is available on the City & Guilds website.  We strongly urge you to buy a copy of the prescribed texts.
