Entry requirements for this course

To join the Speciss family and kick-start your career, you need to have 5 “O” levels, or be older than 18 years of age and have relevant experience in the panel beating and spray painting field.

Bring certified copies of your qualifications when you come to register at Speciss College!


What you will learn

This is what you’ll study in the Panel Beating and Spray Painting Certificate course:

  • Workshop safety: safety precautions applicable to the use of portable power machines, general and mechanical safety, including fire extinguishers and use of tools
  • Cylinders: use of oxy-acetylene cylinders and equipment brazing, silver soldering, gas welding, gas cutting, the use of fillers, rust repairs
  • Processes: pipe bending, pattern making, panelling by hand, checking frame for alignment, drop lining methods for chassis plotting
  • Spray-Painting: paint safety precautions, spray-gun, air compressors, spraying, masking, stripping by using a chemical paint remover
  • Colour matching

What exams will you write?

Exams are held monthly. You’ll register for the exams with the Speciss College Exams Officer. Information on the exam fees can be obtained from the Speciss College Exams Officer.

When and where are the classes and what are the fees?

Lessons are offered at different times on different campuses, with some lessons being held during the day, and others in the evening or at weekends.

Often the same course can be studied at a variety of different times, so you can choose the one which is more convenient to you.

You’ll get your personal timetable when you register at Speciss College.


What about books and stationery?

You'll need to bring your own notebook and writing materials to your classes. For your convenience, we have a range of stationery items at the Speciss bookshops.
